The Citadellet was built 1549-1559 by the Danish king Christian III as defence against the war-like Swedes.

The citadel was built between 1549 and1559 by the Danish King Christian III and is today Scandinavia’s best preserved 16th century fortress. Set in beautiful surroundings and enclosed by a moat. Guided tours during the summer. Guided tours for pre-booked groups all year round.
